Q1. Will my operating system be supported on the new platform?
Only current, actively supported operating system versions will be available on the new platform:
CentOS Stream 9 / 10
Debian 12 / 13
Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04 / 26.04
The up-to-date list of available images is always accessible in the control panel when creating a VM.
Q2. What if my current OS isn't supported?
If our team is handling your VM migration, your server will be transferred as-is, including the operating system. However, when creating new VMs you will only be able to select from the available OS list.
If you are migrating independently and your current OS is at the End of Life stage or unsupported on the new platform for other reasons, you will need to upgrade to a supported OS version available at server creation.
Make sure your software is compatible with the new OS before proceeding. If you need help planning a self-managed migration, open a support ticket and we'll assist.
Q3. Will my soft/site/app configuration run on the new platform?
Compatibility depends primarily on the OS, not the cloud platform itself.
If your stack runs on one of the supported OS versions listed, chances are you won't need to change anything at all.
If you have hard dependencies on specific library versions, custom modules, or legacy components, we'd recommend discussing the details with our team in advance and testing your project on a trial VM before the full migration.
Q4. Will my site or application's performance change?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases, performance will improve.
The new platform runs on modern servers powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors, DDR5 6400 MHz RAM, and fast NVMe SSDs. This translates to a noticeable speed improvement over the previous infrastructure, especially for high-load projects.
Q5. Do I need to update my scripts and configurations?
It depends on how tightly your scripts and configurations are tied to specific OS versions, libraries, and services.
If you're using standard, up-to-date tools, things will often continue working without any changes. If your project has hard dependencies on older software versions or non-standard paths/modules, some adaptation may be required.
We recommend discussing this with our technical team in advance and testing your application on a trial VM if necessary.
