Q1. I have multiple VMs. Will they all be migrated at the same time?

The approach to migrating multiple virtual machines is discussed individually with each customer.

Our team can organize the migration however works best for your project: all VMs at once (if they're tightly coupled) or in stages - including when servers are located in different data centers.

Q2. Do I need to update my DNS records?

Whether you need to update DNS records depends on whether your server's IP address changes during migration.

If our team is handling the migration, your current IP address is preserved and no DNS changes are necessary.

Q3. How will migration affect my scheduled tasks / cron jobs?

If our team performs the migration using either of the methods described above, all scheduled tasks are carried over automatically along with the server configuration.

If you're migrating independently, you will need to set up the scheduler on the new server yourself.

Q4. Will my firewall rules be preserved?

Whether firewall rules are migrated depends on how they're currently configured - at the OS level (iptables, ufw) or through Websa Firewall.

• OS-level rules: when our team migrates the server, all rules will be transferred with the VM.

• Websa Firewall rules: you'll need to either manually configure Security Groups on the new platform after the VM is moved
  or migrate the rules inside the old VM so they transfer with the server.

Q5. Will my connection speed to the server change?

For servers staying in the same data center (for example, Amsterdam) and using the same network and providers, latency typically won't change in any noticeable way.

Minor fluctuations are possible, but overall ping and network availability - including speed - should be comparable to what you have now, since the infrastructure will remain in the same region using similar network links.

Q6. Where will my data be physically located?

The new cloud platform is hosted in the Netherlands (Amsterdam).

In the first phase, we are migrating infrastructure to a new cluster also located in Amsterdam - so your data stays in the same region.

Once this phase is complete, migration of the US infrastructure will begin. We'll share details on the US cluster separately, closer to the start of that phase.
